British Junior National Championship
Good luck to all the Norwich RC juniors at Strathclyde ( Glasgow) at the British Junior National Championship this weekend. Row hard and we look forward to you bringing back some medals. Hattie, Hannah, Sasha, Cerys, Bethany, Emily, Max, Dan, Ed, Tom, Seb.

Club Meeting
Thanks everyone for contributing to such a successful meeting. So many great ideas for events!  Watch out for more news soon.

Men’s Squad

row-boat-racing-team-capsizes-in-huge-waveIMPORTANT – CAPSIZE TRAINING!
On Monday July 20th we will be running a capsize training event on the large broad at the Whittlingham Outdoor Education Centre from 18h00-20h30. All club members should receive capsize training as part of BR guidelines so if you are an adult member of NRC and you have never done this training please do come along.

BR water safety guidance requires rowers to be able to demonstrate the following –

  1. Swim under water for 5 Metres.
  2. Swim 50 Metres in light clothing

The session will be monitored by safety staff at the WOEC. If you are not a confident swimmer – DO NOT WORRY, you may wear a personal flotation device (PFD). Please bring along the following:

  1. Rowing kit that you can be immersed in.
  2. A complete change of dry clothing .
  3. A towel (shower facilities are available).
  4. A warm drink and something sweet to eat.

Do not go in the water if you have an ear infection or flu, and please make sure that any wounds or abrasions are covered with a water-proof dressing. Please confirm by e-mail that you will be attending the session (colwyn.thomas@uea.ac.uk). A full safety briefing will be delivered on the evening of this event.

Please tell your friends and put these dates in your diary now so that you can help Colwyn – please contact him with your availability.
